Hi there. I’m Alex von Vaupel, queer tanka poet, writer, activist, polyglot. I live a nomadic life, based both in Utrecht, Netherlands, and Canterbury, Kent, UK. I write tanka to keep track of my journey through life. On this webpage you will find my tanka, some thoughts on poetry, writing, and other information about my work. My tanka have been published in Atlas Poetica, Concise Delight, and Prune Juice. Two of my tanka qualified for the 2009 Tanka Splendor Awards. Since January 2010 I am Technical Director of Atlas Poetica : A Journal of Poetry of Place in Contemporary Tanka, responsible for the journal’s new website, cover design, and other technical matters.
